performance

A12Z, 8 cores, Apple GPUThe 8-core chip handles document editing, web browsing, and video playback without lag, though it trails the newest iPad Pro chips released later that year.

display

12.9-inch, 2048×2732, 265 ppiThe large screen and 4:3 aspect ratio suit reading PDFs, spreadsheets, and artwork, but at 265 ppi the pixel density is noticeably coarser than modern high-res tablets.

storage

128 GB to 1 TB, fixed capacityPick your storage tier at purchase; the base 128 GB fills up fast if you download apps and media, so 256 GB or higher is safer for regular use.

durability

5.9 mm thick, 643 g weightAt roughly half an inch thick and under 1.5 pounds, it is thin and portable for a 12.9-inch tablet, but sustained one-handed use will tire your arm.
